Pastel Blank Brings Art-Rock to Midnight Agency

Pastel Blank Brings Art-Rock to Midnight Agency

Pastel Blank, the Montréal-based project led by singer and songwriter Angus Watt, has joined Midnight Agency. Formed in 2019, the project pulls influence from jerky rhythms and genre-blending curiosity, cloaking experimentation in pop-minded song structures.

On stage, Pastel Blank delivers an energetic live show that captures the spirit of their recordings, balancing musicianship with infectious rhythm. Notable performances include La Machine du Moulin Rouge for MaMA Festival in Paris, The Strongroom in London, and opening for Unknown Mortal Orchestra at The Vogue Theatre in Vancouver.

Pastel Blank’s latest EP Pastel Blanc is out now. Recorded with Victoria-based producer David Parry, known for his work with Loving and Jons, and international artist Alice Phoebe Lou, the release delivers a colorful mix of off-kilter guitar tones, vivid storytelling, and tightly arranged grooves.

Continuing to expand their sound, the band draws from new wave, disco, and post-punk, filtered through a distinct art-rock perspective. As Melodic Magazine describes it, their music “blends together jagged jabs of funk, soft shades of bossa nova, and punchy disco beats to create a listening experience that is both unpredictable and captivating.”
