The Deep Dark Woods have joined the Midnight Agency roster. Originally from Saskatchewan, the folk-roots ensemble has spent nearly two decades building their sound rooted in traditional folk, country blues, and haunting storytelling. Led by founding member Ryan Boldt, the band has established itself as a respected name in Canada's roots music landscape.
Across a celebrated catalogue of albums and EPs, The Deep Dark Woods have earned three JUNO Award nominations, two Canadian Folk Music Awards, and a Western Canadian Music Award, alongside an Americana Music Award nomination for Emerging Artist of the Year. Their extensive touring history includes performances at Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, and Austin City Limits, as well as major folk festivals across Canada and international tours throughout the United States and Europe.
On stage, The Deep Dark Woods bring a rich, understated intensity to their performances. Boldt's expressive vocals lead an accomplished ensemble whose musicianship balances delicate arrangements with powerful emotional depth. Their live shows favour atmosphere, storytelling, and the kind of musical chemistry developed through years of collaboration.
Musically, The Deep Dark Woods draw from Celtic folk, Americana, country blues, and traditional roots music, creating a sound both timeless and distinctly their own. With influences ranging from The Band and Fairport Convention to the Grateful Dead, they continue to carry traditional folk music forward through evocative songwriting and a singular artistic identity.
