Midnight Agency is pleased to welcome My Son the Hurricane to its expanding roster. The 12-piece, multi-horn, multi-drummer brass-funk band from Niagara, Ontario has built a reputation as a world-touring “brass-dance” crew, taking their high-energy show international.
My Son the Hurricane’s momentum has surged in recent years. In 2023, their performance of “Mr. Holland’s Locust” surpassed 30 million views online and introduced the band’s sound to a global audience.
They’ve mounted extensive tour runs of 70+ dates across North America and Europe, while appearing at major festivals including Glastonbury, Hillside, Ottawa Bluesfest, Victoria Ska and Reggae, and other large-scale events on both sides of the Atlantic. Along the way, they’ve shared stages with acts such as Foo Fighters, Jason Isbell, I Mother Earth and more, underscoring their fit on big, multi-genre lineups.
On stage, My Son the Hurricane function as a full brass-funk engine: trumpets, saxophones, trombones, drums, guitar, keys and percussion led by a wild, charismatic frontwoman, built for late-night festival slots and packed club rooms. Their live show is known for nonstop movement, crowd engagement and a wall-of-sound horn section that’s intentionally designed for the dance floor. As Kingston Music Reviews put it, there may never be a medium that can fully capture their “energy, sound and theatrics” — you simply have to see them live.
Musically, My Son the Hurricane sit at the crossroads of funk, brass band, rock, hip-hop and jazz, often described as a “brass funk beast” and a “force of nature” on stage. With a new album cycle underway, the band has carved out a distinct lane within the modern brass-funk and festival scene, bringing a high-impact, dance-ready show that resonates with both dedicated fans and first-time listeners.
