April 6th marks a momentous occasion for Midnight: the agency’s first anniversary. Midnight Agency launched in 2021 as a small boutique music and arts agency. Over the past year, the collaboration between Nick Middleton and Grant Paley has gone from strength to strength, working with a wide and growing list of clients on Canadian and international projects alike.
A YEAR OF COLLABORATION
From humble beginnings as two established industry leaders, to building a breakthrough agency in the live music market, Midnight has witnessed significant development during our one year lifespan.
Collaboration is the core of what Midnight has to offer. What sets this agency apart is the ability to apply in-depth understanding of artistry to every aspect of the work. The company now boasts a highly trained team of professionals, each with individual expertise that allows specialized service to their growing roster of talent. Midnight's Canadian footprint also expanded this year, welcoming a larger team and opening its 2nd office located in Toronto's Liberty Village.
INTERNATIONAL CLIENTS
Passion and enthusiasm for live music has allowed Midnight to work with some big names in the industry, and over the year this agency has welcomed 38 artists to its roster spanning all corners of globe. May it be Guns in the UK, Chali 2na based in the USA, or Stickybuds now based in Paraguay, the team pushes to fine tune its expertise to serve talent and audiences across the country and abroad.
"Our roster at Midnight Agency represents some of the most forward thinking, diverse and technologically savvy individuals I’ve ever met. Midnight is continually looking to welcome like minded artists to our multi genre roster, working side by side with them to bring ground breaking music to Canada and beyond." - Grant Paley.
BUILDING COMMUNITY
Developing and maintaining relationships with Canadian based businesses is one of the key goals and something Midnight will continue to strive for in the years to come. While expanding into the international market has been a huge achievement, the agency is also focused on working alongside its local community.
Last month, Midnight partnered with Lemmon Stage to present its first artist showcase featuring Dijah SB and Moontricks in Toronto at the legendary El Mocambo. The electrifying night was a first glimpse into the fruitful future of community partnerships and the willingness to offer support to local event businesses.
In the digital space, the pandemic presented a unique opportunity for streaming and new ventures in Web 3. In addition to booking shows in the Metaverse, on Twitch, and for various online streaming events and festivals, Midnight offers services in the areas of syncs and licensing as well as helping artists navigate the fast-moving NFT space and field bookings coming in for the Metaverse.
With that comes a huge impact on music – specifically how and where music is released, how creators are paid, how fans can directly support artists, and how musicians collaborate with other artists. It’s a fast-moving space and requires a keen eye locked on all its moving parts.
FUTURE MINDSET
At the end of the day, everything done at Midnight is about the artists and the music. The past year has marked a rewarding achievement and looking to the future the agency remains committed to its foundations.
“Always remember why you embarked down this path in the first place, keeping that front and center will always help guide you to make the right decisions, forge the right relationships, and remember it’s a marathon, not a sprint,” says co-Founder & CEO, Nick Middleton.
The international language of music has no borders, and the team at Midnight is honoured to serve its talent, community, and industry with an integral heart and passion for music.
