Commitment to the full performance art form is how Beats Antique fuses musical worlds, pulling on global sounds for experiments on the fringes of cinematic cabaret, informed by electronic mash-ups and inspirations who have joined them on the journey such as Les Claypool, Alam Khan, The Glitch Mob, Too Many Zooz and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Cadence Weapon is Edmonton-born, Hamilton-based rapper, producer, writer and poet Rollie Pemberton. His 2021 album Parallel World won Canada’s Polaris Music Prize.

The son of a pioneering hip-hop radio DJ, Pemberton grew up around a diverse library of music. Splitting his time between Edmonton’s experimental electronic and underground rap scenes as a teenager, Pemberton eventually developed a hybrid of both styles. Cadence Weapon has released six albums, five of which have been nominated for the Polaris Music Prize, with Breaking Kayfabe (2006), Hope In Dirt City (2012), and Parallel World (2021) being shortlist nominees. Pemberton has toured extensively following the success of these albums, playing festivals like Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork Music Festival, Roskilde and Primavera Sound and performing shows with artists such as Public Enemy, Diplo, Questlove, De La Soul and many more.

Pemberton’s music is known for pairing ground-breaking production with incisive, socially conscious lyricism. Pemberton’s memoir called Bedroom Rapper was published by McClelland & Stewart in May 2022 and his newest album ROLLERCOASTER was released on April 19, 2024.

With his unmistakable baritone voice and 6-and-a-half-foot charm, Chali 2na has established himself as one of hip-hop's most celebrated and charismatic personalities.  Most well-known for co-founding music groups, Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli, Chali released his debut solo album "Fish Outta Water" in 2009.  Since then, he has toured the world ten times over with his band known as House of Vibe and has collaborated with some of the industry’s most recognized and respected DJs and Musicians.  Breathing visual life into his musical past, Chali embarked on a 6-year journey to produce "Against the Current”, a multi-media project that combines a 5-part series of genre bending EPs with a coffee table artbook featuring his own original paintings, drawings, and photography.  After relocating from Chicago to LA in the early 80’s when he was entering his teens, he was instantly engulfed by the worlds of hip hop and graffiti.  Instinctively successful at marrying the two together, as his music career began to flourish, his artistic talents also expanded past the walls of city streets and onto canvases and into galleries.  Now, as Chali’s catalogues continue to grow he is finding unique ways to share his art with the world, and demand for it is rapidly growing.

Mad Professor is one of the leading figures in Dub. Having started building electronic equipment in the seventies, Neil Fraser evolved into building mixing desks and sound effect units.

He opened his self built recording studios in 1979 attracting a variety of artists and musicians. From Sister Audrey, Mikey Dread, Ruts DC, Plato Banton, Macka B, Merger, Jimmy Lindsay, Desmond Decker, Matumbi, Reggae Regulars, they all recorded through the custom built mixing desk that was favored by sound system giants Moa Ambessa, Jan Shaka, Coxsone, Aba Shanti, Wassifa and many more.

After producing many hit songs in the eighties, Country Living by Sandra Cross, True Born African by U Roy and Sister Audrey, If I gave my heart to you by John Mclean, Black Pride by Kofi, Got to find a way by Lorna G, and many more. 

Mad Professor won Best Reggae Producer award for seven successive years,he also started to experiment with several mainstream acts, providing re-mix production duties for Massive Attack, The Orb, Sade, Jamariquai , Rancid and many more.

Professor then developed the Live Electronic Dub Show, becoming the first engineer to mix live from the stage, sometimes with tapes, or musicians, very often with artists from the Ariwa label, from Aisha to Lee Scratch Perry.

Mad Professor is also credited as being responsible for the transition of Lee Perry, from the eccentric Upsetter, into one of the top reggae performers of the 21st century.

Having developed the Ariwa studios into a state of the art multi room facility, this iconic label is one of the most successful black owned businesses in the UK, and certainly one of the most diverse music labels in the world! With a catalogue of more than 300 titles, Ariwa still manufacture vinyl, CDs, and is constantly uploading back catalogue and new releases to its digital distribution.

Modern Biology has brought 'plant music' to the masses. Originally educated as a biologist, veteran musician Tarun Nayar brings his passion for nature and sound together in an ambient project that is organismic, immediate, uplifting, and deeply contextual. He uses modular synthesis, home built synthesizers and other analog equipment to improvise with the natural vibrations of a certain place and time - via plant bioelectricity, latent electromagnetic radiation, and even the earth’s resonant hum.
